Getting your car home from Croatia
Croatia is a favourite summer destination for Dutch people travelling by car. From Slovenia you enter near Zagreb, after which the A1 runs inland, parallel to the coast, to Zadar, Split and further south. Croatian motorways charge tolls by section. If you break down on an autocesta, switch on your hazard lights, put on a high-visibility vest, place the warning triangle and wait behind the crash barrier. If anyone is at risk, call 112. If the car is on an island without a bridge, the transport includes a ferry crossing; tell us the island and the town and we plan the trip. To reach Dubrovnik you now cross the Pelješac Bridge without passing through Bosnia and Herzegovina. If a local recovery firm has towed the car away, send us that address. We work from the Netherlands, so for help on the spot you call a local service first and we then arrange the transport.
