Getting your car home from Italy
If you break down on an autostrada, switch on your hazard lights, put on a high-visibility vest before you get out and place the warning triangle if it is safe. Wait behind the crash barrier and use the roadside emergency phone or call 112. On the autostrada a local recovery service usually handles the tow and takes the car to a garage or yard nearby. We collect it there and drive it to the Netherlands. Many Italian town centres have ZTL zones, where only authorised traffic may enter. If your car is in or near one, send us the exact address so we can plan the collection properly. We reach you from the Netherlands via the Brenner, the Gotthard or through France. Yes. Agree with the garage that the car can be released and pay any outstanding bill there. Send us the address and opening hours; we agree a fixed price for the trip to the Netherlands in advance.
What is a ZTL and why does it matter for collection?
A ZTL (zona a traffico limitato) is a restricted zone in a town centre where only authorised traffic may enter. If your car is inside one, send us the exact address and we work out in advance how and where we can collect it.
How much does it cost to bring my car from Italy to the Netherlands?
