Getting your car home from Portugal
Portugal lies on the western side of the Iberian peninsula, so we drive from the Netherlands through France and Spain to reach you. If you break down on an autoestrada, switch on your hazard lights, put on a high-visibility vest and place the warning triangle if it is safe. Wait behind the crash barrier and call 112 if you are in danger. Some Portuguese motorways, such as the A22 in the Algarve, charge tolls electronically with no toll booths; that makes no difference to the transport, but it is useful to know if you drive on yourself. If a local recovery firm has taken the car away, we collect it from that firm or from the garage. Tell us the motorway, for example the A1 between Lisbon and Porto or the A2 heading south, your direction and the exit, or your address. We also bring home cars of winter residents that no longer run.
