From the Netherlands we enter Romania through Hungary, for example at Nădlac towards Arad and Timișoara, or at Borș towards Oradea and Cluj-Napoca. The A1 runs inland from the western border, but the motorway network is not complete; many routes across the Carpathians are single carriageway and mountainous. Romanian roads outside towns require a vignette (rovinieta), also for foreign-registered cars; you do not need to arrange anything for our transport. Safety first: hazard lights on, high-visibility vest on, warning triangle out and the car as safe as you can get it. Call 112 if you are in danger.
